These loaded vegan nachos are a game-day favorite. They are smothered in homemade plant-based taco meat, beans, salsa, jalapeños, and homemade vegan nacho cheese. Let’s dig in!
With so many game-day snack options at our fingertips, nachos are up there with the best of them. Nachos can be prepared and served in so many different ways, and we are here to share our favorite method.
Here’s What We Need to Make These Loaded Vegan Nachos
Tortilla Chips: The base of our nachos are corn tortilla chips! If you want to add some color to your chips, you can also opt for blue corn tortilla chips. Of course, if you’re going to switch up the base entirely, you can always replace tortilla chips with french fries, wedges, or tater tots. But, of course, you can’t go wrong with potatoes!
Salsa: We like to keep our nachos classic by adding pico de gallo. We mix tomatoes, onions, lime juice, and cilantro for ours. You can also use any store-bought salsa you prefer or make our restaurant-style salsa.
Veggies: You can add any veggies to your nachos that you’d like. We like to keep it simple and add fresh or pickled jalapeños and black olives.
Nacho Cheese Sauce: What would nachos be without some vegan queso? We have a delicious homemade vegan nacho cheese sauce that you need to try. It’s made with potatoes, carrots, cashews, nutritional yeast, and spices. You won’t even believe it’s dairy-free cheese. Of course, if you’re short on time, you can always use vegan cheese shreds or make a simple vegan cheese sauce using shreds, but we recommend the nacho cheese sauce.
Avocado: We like to dice up avocado and sprinkle it over our nachos, but if you’re feeling fancy, you can also make guacamole.
Vegan Taco Meat: There are a ton of different options when it comes to adding protein to your nachos. We have a lentil and walnut taco meat that complements nachos perfectly. We have another taco meat recipe made from mushrooms and walnuts if you’re looking for something different. Another option is our gluten-free sheet-pan tofu taco meat. If you don’t feel like cooking, you can always opt for Beyond or Impossible grounds.
Cilantro: The perfect herb to garnish your nachos. It’s optional but recommended!
Lime: A squeeze of lime juice over a finished plate of nachos brings the flavor to a whole new level.
Vegan Sour Cream: We like to finish our nachos with a drizzle of dairy-free sour cream. Both the Tofutti and Follow Your Heart make great sour cream. We recommend loosening it up with some water before drizzling it if it’s too thick.
Equipment Needed:
Blender (for the cheese sauce)
Large pot (for the taco meat)
Sheet pan or large platter (for serving)
Squeeze bottle (optional, for the vegan sour cream)

On a plate, wide bowl, or baking sheet, add a thin layer of chips. Drizzle over your desired amount of cheese, taco meat, black beans, salsa, avocado or guacamole, jalapeños, optional onions, vegan sour cream, and cilantro + any other toppings of choice. If you would like, you can add another layer of chips and another round of toppings.
Dig in!
Notes
We have found that a lot of vegan sour creams are thick and not drizzle-able, so we water it down to loosen it up. We like to use a squeeze bottle to drizzle it on top, but you can also just use a spoon if it is loose enough.Â
The serving size of this recipe will vary, depending on how big or small you build up your nachos.Â

This is awesome! Planning to do it tommorrow for the Super Bowl. What brand of vegan sour cream do you recommend? I remember trying some in the past, but not liking them.

We like either tofutti or follow your heart!
Just made this tonight for my omnivore boyfriend for dinner – and it rated it an excellent nacho plate that fits the craving!
