Today we are coming at you with our latest obsession — cashew mustard cheese sauce aka the cashew cheese sauce of your dreams.
This creamy and decadent vegan cheese dip is perfect for vegans and non-vegans alike. It is extremely versatile, super easy to make and so damn delicious– you’re going to love it.This recipe is simple and requires just 6 ingredients! The most difficult part is the steaming of the potatoes which you probably know is an easy task, it just sometimes requires patience when you are hungry 😉
All that you have to do for this recipe is soak the cashews and steam the potatoes until they are both nice and soft, and then place them into a high-speed blender along with vegetable broth, mustard, turmeric, and lemon juice. Blend that all together until nice and smooth and voila, dig in!There are so many ways that you can serve our cashew mustard cheese!
Serve it as a dip with homemade baked potato fries, your favorite veggies and/or crackers. This is perfect for date nights or parties!
Drizzle it on baked potatoes as a substitute for vegan sour cream or shredded vegan cheese
Thin it out and use it as a dressing: combine 1 tablespoon of the cashew mustard cheese with enough water to achieve a dressing like consistency. Add it on top of your favorite salad!
Spread it into a sandwich or burger in place of mayonnaise. An example is pictured below.
Use it in a wrap! We usually add hummus into our wraps, but this makes a great substitute and adds such a unique flavor!
Use it as a pasta sauce!
This cashew mustard cheese dip can be used as a sauce as well! It pairs perfectly with our Easy Veggie Burger Sliders. This is a recipe that Chris and I created almost 2 years ago and it is still one of our favorites to date! They are easy to make and jam-packed with flavor. PLUS they are loaded with protein along with a plethora of vegetables, so you’ll be able to enjoy a delicious vegan burger without skimping out on nutrition. If you make this recipe, let us know what you think in the comments below! + If you post any photos on Instagram, make sure you tag us @sweetsimplevegan and @consciouschris so that we don’t miss it, we love seeing your photos!
A quick and easy cashew mustard cheese dip made with just 6 simple ingredients. 100% dairy free, gluten free, and soy free, this will be your new go-to dip for every occasion!
Place the cashews in a medium bowl and cover with water. Soak overnight or for at least 8 hours to soften.
Place the potato into a small steamer pot and steam until softened, about 15 minutes.
In a high-speed blender, add the soaked cashews and steamed potatoes, along with the remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth.
Serve as a dip with potato wedges, your favorite veggies and/or crackers OR serve it as a sauce. We like to put it into a squeeze bottle and drizzle it on top of our Buddha Bowls.
Notes
If you want to speed up the soaking process, bring a medium pot of water to a boil and remove from heat. Place the cashews in the hot water and sock for about 20-30 minutes, until softened.
Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for about 1 week.
Cooking time does not include the soaking of the cashews.

Hi Jasmine, what do you mean by German mustard? Thanks!
Hi Kelly! German mustard is usually coarsely ground, sharp and spicy! If needed you can use any mustard of choice 🙂
Hey!
It’s really really good, I’ve just made it 🙂
I’m going to use it in a wrap, I can’t wait for it 🙂
Bye, Mélusine
