An easy guide to making the perfect cold brew at home! #coldbrew #coffee #diy #howto #vegan #easy #budgetfriendly #moneysaver #cheap #foolproof #breakfast #musthave #sweetsimpleveganCoffee is something that we both look forward to each morning to get our day started. We know purchasing coffee every day can get expensive, especially cold brew, so we thought it would be helpful to provide this easy-to-follow tutorial on how to make the best cold brew at home (that won’t break the bank).

Trust me, after learning how to make cold brew at home and seeing just how simple it is, you won’t have to pick it up from your local coffee shop ever again! An easy guide to making the perfect cold brew at home! #coldbrew #coffee #diy #howto #vegan #easy #budgetfriendly #moneysaver #cheap #foolproof #breakfast #musthave #sweetsimplevegan An easy guide to making the perfect cold brew at home! #coldbrew #coffee #diy #howto #vegan #easy #budgetfriendly #moneysaver #cheap #foolproof #breakfast #musthave #sweetsimpleveganStep 1. Coarsely grind your coffee in a coffee grinder (refer to the image above). If you don’t have access to a grinder, ask a friend if they have one or talk to the barista at your local coffee shop. If you purchase the coffee there, they are more willing to grind it for you! We have even had Starbucks grind coffee for us with no problem. #coldbrew #coffee #diy #howto #vegan #easy #budgetfriendly #moneysaver #cheap #foolproof #breakfast #musthave #sweetsimpleveganStep 2. Add the coffee grounds into a mason jar (or french press or your brewing receptacle of choice) and fill it with filtered water. We like our cold brew strong, so we work with a 1:4 coffee to water ratio. #coldbrew #coffee #diy #howto #vegan #easy #budgetfriendly #moneysaver #cheap #foolproof #breakfast #musthave #sweetsimpleveganStep 3. Mix everything together. The coffee will float to the top but that is okay! You just need to make sure that all of it gets wet. We didn’t add any additional flavorings to our recipe, but feel free to add vanilla extract, cinnamon, sweetener, or anything else you please when brewing it! Pop the lid on and place it in the refrigerator or on your countertop to steep for 18-24 hours. An easy guide to making the perfect cold brew at home! #coldbrew #coffee #diy #howto #vegan #easy #budgetfriendly #moneysaver #cheap #foolproof #breakfast #musthave #sweetsimpleveganStep 4. Grab a cheesecloth, coffee filter, a nut milk bag or a fine mesh strainer, and pour the coffee through to strain. You may need to do this a few times to remove all of the residue. (If your coffee is coarsely ground it should strain easily, but if it is too finely ground residue may be unavoidable.) Discard the grounds and the contents of the strainer (these are great for compost).

Step 5. Transfer the cold brew into a clean jar or an airtight container, and place it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. An easy guide to making the perfect cold brew at home! #coldbrew #coffee #diy #howto #vegan #easy #budgetfriendly #moneysaver #cheap #foolproof #breakfast #musthave #sweetsimpleveganStep 6. Serve! We enjoy our cold brew over ice with water (at a 1:1 ratio) and fresh almond milk. I mean…you can use any plant-based milk of choice, but fresh is always best and trust us, it elevated your coffee! We like to add a bit of water when we are serving it since it is pretty strong. I meaaan, I can drink it strong, but Jasmine needs to water it down or she feels crazy haha. If you would like it warm, you can add a bit of boiling water or almond milk to your cold brew when serving. An easy guide to making the perfect cold brew at home! #coldbrew #coffee #diy #howto #vegan #easy #budgetfriendly #moneysaver #cheap #foolproof #breakfast #musthave #sweetsimpleveganLet us know if you try making cold brew at home using this tutorial + what you thought of the final result, we love your feedback! Description

A complete guide to making the perfect cold brew at home. It is easy, foolproof and won’t break the bank. In fact, after learning how to make cold brew at home and seeing just how simple it is, you won’t have to pick it up from your local coffee shop ever again!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup coarsely ground coffee
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 32 oz. mason jar (or a french press or brewing receptacle of choice)
  • Cheesecloth (or a nut milk bag or fine mesh strainer)
  • Homemade almond milk, to serve

Instructions

  2. Add the coffee grounds into a mason jar (or french press or your brewing receptacle of choice) and fill it with filtered water. We like our cold brew strong, so we work with a 1:4 coffee to water ratio.
  3. Mix everything together. The coffee will float to the top but that is okay! You just need to make sure that all of it gets wet. Pop the lid on and place it in the refrigerator or on your countertop to steep for 18-24 hours.
  4. Grab a cheesecloth, coffee filter a nut milk bag or a fine mesh strainer, and pour the coffee through to strain. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your straining receptacle + a few times to remove all of the residue. (If your coffee is coarsely ground it should strain easily, but if it is too finely ground residue may be unavoidable.) Discard the grounds and the contents of the strainer (these are great for compost).
  5. Transfer the cold brew into a clean jar or an airtight container, and place it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  6. We serve our cold brew over ice with some water (at a 1:1 ratio) and fresh almond milk. If you would like it warm, you can add a bit of boiling water or almond milk to your cold brew when serving.

Notes

  • Because of its low acidity, this cold brew will last in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
  • Cold brew can steep at room temperature but must be stored in the refrigerator after brewing.
  • We didn’t add any additional flavorings to our recipe, but feel free to add vanilla extract, cinnamon, sweetener, or anything else you please when brewing it!
  • Prep Time: 24 hours

  1. Omg! I just tried the cold brew and it is so delicious!? Thank you so much for this awesome and super easy to follow “How to” !!

  2. Hey guys – if you’re using a finer grind and get residue, pour your brew through a regular old-fashioned coffee filter. That should do the trick!

    1. Thanks so much, Deni! We don’t have one and just use the strainer we use when we make Almond Milk, but I will note that!
