Description
A vegan and dog-friendly fall smoothie recipe that is perfect for your pup to enjoy as a holiday treat!
Ingredients
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup crushed ice
- 3 tablespoons coconut meat
- 1 heaping tablespoon of peanut butter
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Dog treats to top (we used V-Dog breath bones)
Coconut whipped cream:
- 1 can coconut cream or full-fat coconut milk, refrigerated overnight
Instructions
- Place all of the smoothie ingredients into a blender and run until smooth.
- For the whipped cream, remove your can of coconut cream or milk from the refrigerator and carefully open it, trying to avoid shaking it. Scoop the top portion of the can into a chilled bowl and discard the liquid (or save it for smoothies, etc.). Use a hand or standing mixer to whip the coconut cream until fluffy.
- Pour the smoothie into two cups or bowls, then scoop or pipe on the whipped coconut cream.
Notes
- Coconut is non-toxic to dogs, but it does contain medium chain triglycerides, which may cause some gastrointestinal upset and bloating. Please check in with your veterinarian if you have any concern. Berry has never shown any negative reactions to the ingredient, so we felt comfortable using it in this recipe.
- Please be sure to use all natural peanut butter with no additives for the safety of your dogs. The only ingredient should be peanuts!
- Nutrition facts do not include the V-Dog breath bones.
