3 Ingredient Vegan Cinnamon Rolls

After seeing the buzz about these High Carb, Low Fat, Raw Vegan Cinnamon Rolls all over the internet lately, I just had to make some of my own, and man am I glad I did.

3 Ingredient Vegan Cinnamon Rolls

This ingredient list is SO SIMPLE. 3 Ingredients, all raw, healthy and organic:

Organic dates: I purchased the Royal Treatment sampler box from 7 Hot Dates. All of their dates are organic and grown locally here in California. These dates are of much higher quality than those sold in conventional super markets and I highly recommend you try them out. They ship all over the United States and Canada.

Organic bananas: be sure that they are spotty and ripe, but not too mushy, or you won’t be able to cut them without breaking.

Organic cinnamon: The only spice you need for this recipe, and the star of the show. I always try to purchase organic, and I feel like it makes all the difference flavor wise. You can even take whole cinnamon sticks and grind them in a high speed blender to make your own fresh cinnamon powder for this recipe. I have heard that grinding your own fresh cinnamon powder is idea in that you are able to consume the natural oils that are often stripped from the stick, maximizing its benefits of reducing inflammation, having antioxidant effects, and fighting against bacteria.

Why do I urge you to make this? Besides the fact that these are AMAZING, it is also fat-free, gluten-free, raw vegan, requires only 3 Ingredients and is perfect for both kids and adults!

Ingredients

  • 15 organic dates, pitted (I used 3 each of Medjool, Khadrawy, Halawy, Deglet Noor, and Zahidi)*
  • 4 large ripe organic bananas
  • About 1/2 tsp organic cinnamon + more to top
  • Optional: Vanilla, coconut sugar, additional spices.

Instructions

Dehydrator

  1. Slice the bananas vertically in 3 pieces each.*
  2. Sprinkle the bananas with cinnamon and place them on a dehydrator at 115F for 6-8 hours.
  3. While the bananas dehydrate, create your caramel. Add all of the dates into a high speed blender with a dash of cinnamon, optional vanilla, and 1/4-1/2 cup of water, or as much as is needed to create a thick paste.
  4. Once the bananas are able to be handled without breaking, but not completely dry, take slices of and spread the caramel along them. Roll the banana with caramel around itself to form a roll.* Top the rolls with more date caramel if desired. Sprinkle the top with cinnamon.
  5. Place back in the dehydrator for 6 hours until warmed through.

Oven

  1. I have not yet tried this recipe in an oven, but this is what I would do if I needed to use one.
  2. Preheat your oven to the lowest heat possible.
  3. Prepare the recipe exactly how it is above, and when placing the bananas into the oven, keep the door cracked open with a wooden spoon for the moisture to be able to escape. Since the heat may be higher, I would do 4-6 hours for the initial dry, then 4-6 for the second. Adjust times as needed.

Notes

I cut WITH the curve of the banana, not against it. SInce some of the bananas are in a C-shape, cut along the banana drawing a C shape so that you get a straight instead of curved piece.

You can roll several slices around one another to get a thicker cinnamon roll.

  1. I love this recipe! I googled 3 ingredient recipes during a vegan fast at the beginning of the year, and this was so easy to make. I happened to find a premade date puree in a jar at TJMaxx, so I cheated and used that, but it turned out great. Now I’m preggo and getting quite a lot of cramps, so I bought waaay too many bananas, and was so glad I remembered this recipe! Some of the bananas were huge so I actually did 4 slices, and I’m looking forward to trying to make my own date puree with my ancient nutribullet. My bananas are currently in the first stage of trying, but I wanted to leave a review and recommend this recipe to anyone who is on the fence. They last a long time, they would be amazing to make with kids (after the slicing), and if some of them do break, just add another slice to the roll to make it a bit bigger. I cannot recommend these enough. Thanks Jasmine and Chris!

  5. I need a deydrator. I tried putting some bananas in the toaster oven and they turned to mush. Maybe I cut them too thin. ;(

      I have a cheaper dehydrator (cheaper in cost, that is) but it getz the job done! I didn’t get an excalibur because I don’t use it often, but that one is amazing too, as I have worked with it at a raw food school. I think they are a great investment either way <3
